CÁCH MIÊU TẢ TÍNH CÁCH CON NGƯỜI BẰNG TIẾNG ANH

Khi miêu tả về tính cách của người khác, bạn có thể dùng các trạng từ chỉ mức độ khác nhau để miêu tả (so/ very/ quite/ really/ relatively/ a bit/ a little/ slightly).

Ví dụ:

He is so careful so his parents don’t need to worry him much

(Anh ấy rất cẩn thận nên bố mẹ không cần lo lắng cho anh ấy quá nhiều)

John is quite jealous whenever his girlfriend talks to another guy

(John khá là ghen tuông mỗi khi bạn gái anh ta nói chuyện cùng một chàng trai khác)

Khi miêu tả về tính cách người khác bằng tiếng Anh, hay thêm một vài ví dụ về hành động thường gặp của người đó để làm thuyết phục luận điểm của bạn.

Ví dụ:

Tom is a very hard-working person, He always stays late after work.

(Tom là người làm việc chăm chỉ. ANh ấy luôn ở lại muộn sau giờ tan làm)

Peter is quite reserved, He never talks about his feeling

(Peter khá là dè dặt. Anh ấy chẳng chịu nói về cảm xúc của mình)

Khi miêu tả tính cách của ai đó với ý nghĩa tiêu cực, chúng ta thường cố gắng dùng ngôn ngữ nhẹ nhàng hoặc dùng câu phủ định lại các từ mang ý nghĩa tích cực để hạn chế gây mất lòng người đối diện.

Ví dụ:

He can be aggressive at times  – không nên nói “He is aggressive”

He is not very smart – không nên nói “He is stupid”

Từ vựng về tính cách tích cực của con người

  • Brave /breɪv/: Anh hùng. Example: My brother was as brave as a lion on the rugby field
  • Careful /ˈkeəfl/: Cẩn thận. Example: She was quite careful about how she spoke to him
  • Cheerful /ˈtʃɪəfl/: Vui vẻ. Example: She tried to sound cheerful and unconcerned
  • Easy-going /ˌiːzi ˈɡəʊɪŋ/: Dễ gần. Example: His friends described him as an easy-going person
  • Exciting /ɪkˈsaɪtɪŋ/: Thú vị. Example: She found the idea terrifically exciting
  • Friendly /ˈfrendli/: Thân thiện. Example: Frank was a genuinely friendly guy
  • Generous /ˈdʒenərəs/: Hào phóng. Example: She was generous in her praise for her co-stars
  • Hardworking /ˌhɑːd ˈwɜːkɪŋ/: Chăm chỉ. Example: I want to stand up for all the decent, hard-working families in this country
  • Polite /pəˈlaɪt/: Lịch sự. Example: Our waiter was very polite and helpful
  • Smart = Intelligent: Thông minh. Example: She is clearly extremely intelligent
  • Sociable: Hòa đồng. Example: She’s a sociable child who’ll talk to anyone
  • Talented: Tài năng, có tài. Example: Some of these young musicians are incredibly talented
  • Ambitious /æmˈbɪʃəs/: Có nhiều tham vọng. Example: She’s a great student—dedicated, hardworking and ambitious
  • Cautious: Thận trọng. Example: They’ve taken a very cautious approach
  • Confident: Tự tin. Example: My friend was in a relaxed, confident mood
  • Serious: Nghiêm túc. Example: The crime is considered serious enough to warrant a jail term
  • Creative: Sáng tạo. Example: She channels her creative energy into her art
  • Dependable: Đáng tin tưởng. Example: She is loyal and totally dependable
  • Enthusiastic: Hăng hái, tận tình. Example: They gave her an enthusiastic reception
  • Extroverted: Hướng ngoại. Example: He is bold and extroverted
  • Introverted: Hướng nội. Example: His teachers perceived him as shy and introverted
  • Imaginative: Giàu trí hình dung. Example: you’ll need to be a little more imaginative if you want to hold their attention
  • Observant: Tinh ý. Example: He was acutely observant of the poverty around him
  • Optimistic: Lạc quan. Example: I think you’re being a little over-optimistic
  • Rational: Có chừng mực, có lý trí. Example: She seems incapable of making a rational decision

Từ vựng chỉ tính cách tiêu cực của con người

  • Bad-tempered: Nóng tính. Example: He gets very bad-tempered when he’s tired
  • Boring: Buồn chán. Example: He’s such a boring man!
  • Careless: Bất cẩn, cẩu thả. Example: He’s very careless with money
  • Crazy: Điên khùng. Example: he must be crazy to lend him money
  • Impolite: Bất lịch sự. Example: Some people think it is impolite to ask someone’s age
  • Lazy: Lười biếng. Example: He was not stupid, just lazy
  • Shy: Nhút nhát. Example: My friend was too shy to ask anyone for help
  • Stupid: Ngu ngốc. Example: I was stupid enough to believe him
  • Aggressive: Hung hăng, xông xáo. Example: He became increasingly aggressive as the evening wore on
  • Pessimistic: Bi quan. Example: I think you’re being far too pessimistic
  • Reckless: Hấp Tấp. Example: She showed a reckless disregard for her own safety
  • Strict: Nghiêm khắc. Example: He told me in the strictest confidence
  • Stubborn: Bướng bỉnh (as stubborn as a mule). Example: He was too stubborn to admit that he was wrong
  • Selfish: Ích kỷ. Example: It was selfish of him to leave all the work to you
  • Mad: Điên, khùng. Example: he seemed to have gone stark raving mad
  • Aggressive: Xấu tính. Example: He became increasingly aggressive as the evening wore on
  • Unkind: Xấu bụng, không tốt. Example: She never said anything unkind about anyone
  • Unpleasant: Khó chịu. Example: It can be unpleasant to sit next to a group of people arguing
  • Cruel: Độc ác. Example: Her eyes were cruel and hard
  • Gruff: Thô lỗ cục cằn. Example: Beneath his gruff exterior, he’s really very kind-hearted
  • Insolent: Láo xược. Example: Her tone grew insolent
  • Haughty: Kiêu căng. Example: he threw him a look of haughty disdain
  • Boast: Khoe khoang. Example: He openly boasted of his skill as a burglar.
